The Scheme
The DHOAS Scheme has been developed to recognise and reward the loyalty of ADF members.
How does DHOAS work?
The aim of the Scheme is to assist ADF members to buy their own home and to provide relief for existing home owners. It will also help members who separate from the ADF to re-settle into the civilian community through home ownership.
The Scheme Administrator, Department of Veterans’ Affairs, determines eligibility and entitlement. Subsidy amount, subsidised loan limit and length of time the subsidy is paid depends on service.
Once your home loan with ADCU has been finalised and you have drawn down on the funds, the DVA will then calculate your monthly subsidy and start making the subsidy payments direct into your home loan account.
How much can I borrow?
The DHOAS subsidised loan limits and amounts are designed to keep pace with changes in the housing markets.
The assistance provided by the scheme is not tied to a specific home loan or specific value. How much you choose to borrow is between yourself and ADCU and it is important to note that approval for a Subsidy Certificate does not mean approval for a home loan.
